... 30 metres off the main highway north..pass!!! Stopped at the local Trading Post for some lunch before departing..greeted by the staff "ya'all eatin'!" To which I replied "yes, thank you" as I took a seat. "What, both of yus!" Again"yes, thank you". "Brukfst still orn if ya wants sum!" Such nice people but hard not to crack up! We back tracked a little and found the quaint town of Talkeetna. ...

... Anchorage had finished and the train was about to increase it's speed considerably. We managed not to end up in someone's lap and woke ourselves up a bit. There wasn't a lot of room, with four passengers sitting face to face at a table. The train was early arriving at the siding of 'Woodpecker'. There was no busses to pick us up, so the commentary lady ad-libbed with an Alaskan quiz to keep us entertained until the busses arrived. Another Princess ...

... is the one we will be landing on. We climb as high as 15,000 ft which puts us about the height of Mt. Hunter and 5,000 ft below McKinley's peak but it doesn't look that far above us, I suppose because of it's enormity. The views are spectacular as we wind in among peaks and valleys and descend to 5,600 to eventually land the ski equipped plane on the upper portion of Ruth glacier.

Having made the booking earlier we were excited to wake to beautiful clear weather again for our flightseeing trip to Mt McKinley on the way south. ... in Anchorage & works for Segway. We got along great & for the next hour the six of us laughed as if we were long lost buddies. In my years of traveling, I had never experienced such a fun breakfast & this was definitely a place you had to put yourself out there & so glad we did. Not to mention the great sourdough fresh blueberry pancakes! We said our "goodbyes" & headed out to explore the town.
