Brisbane: revisited and departed

... not be leaving after all. The woman at check-in said the Brisbane-Sydney flight was ok but she could not find our Sydney-Buenos Aires booking on the computer, despite the fact that we had given her the print-out that we had received confirming all the bookings. Eventually, a phone-call or two later, she had it sorted. However, she then cross-questioned us over the fact that we did not have an onward flight out of Argentina and that our final flight back to UK is several months hence ...

Proof reader wanted

Just a note to the couple of people out there who picked up my grammar errors in my previous blog. Dudes, sooooo sorry, Im so excited stuff comes outta my head and onto the page before I get a chance to proof read it. I will endeavour to pick up my act for the obsessively compulsive out there who like their sentences perfect. In the meantime, build a bridge. lol

Brisvegas Baby

... within a bend of the meandering Brisbane river, which flows out at Moreton Bay (famous for it's Bugs.. a variety of lobster) where the eastern most suburbs are situation and sprawls across the Brisbane river floodplain towards the Great Dividing Range to the west. My brother and wife currently rent in a lovely northern suburb called Windsor near the hospital, the Royal and Women's Hospital, where they both work. Windsor is situation on a hill that affords ...

Day 79 - Rainbow Beach to Brisbane

... was about a 20 minute walk (thankfully nit in flip fops). We got to a very busy area that looked more like Benidorm new town full of bars and people on the streets and all looked VERY young. The club she had told us about was called "the Beat" which we spotted but decided to have a few in the bars first as it was only 11pm. We went to the first bar and they asked us for ID!!!! But I'm almost 40 we explained, and she is 40?? But apparently everyone ...

Setting out on the yellow brick road to Narnia?

... it was but only slightly and the chice of beer was strangely lacking. One of the fridge doors appeard to go through into a huge room behind all the other fridge doors, it looked a bit scary so I didn't go in. Then we drank the beers and played cards but I think I merged the rules from several games which was confusing. Yvette: Our first day in Australia and we were very tired after the flight when we got to the hotel as it is the ...

Australia Day

... about 45 minutes of sitting on the uncomfortable patch of grass with screaming kids all around we abandoned our cause and got dinner instead. There were fireworks later in the evening, but after the show in Sydney, nothing could have compared, so we decided to pack it up and head back home. It wasn't the traditional Australia Day experience, but I did see more Aussie flags in one place than ever before and probably ever ...

G'day mate!

... had a dip in the pool soon realising it hadn't been cleaned for a while as there is a drought so it was pretty disgusting. We spent the evening at Fiddler's Elbow again and chatted to lots of people and had a great night. We're off to Byron Bay tomorrow to go to the beach so looking forward to Greyhound coaches which we're sure are a million times better than Asian buses. x\ps. photos coming if we can find a computer with USB today, if not we'll add them later.

Visiting Susan Davies - in Scarborough?! In Oz?!

... that the van wouldn't be able to tow it anyway, so gave up on the idea. (I suppose we could have nicked the canoe)! We got to Susan's about 6pm although she wasn't getting in from work until 7pm. However, her Mum & Dad (Bev & Leo) were there to greet us upon our arrival. They are a lovely couple and they made us very welcome. They let us park our van on their front lawn and showed us round the place. The house actually overlooks the sea - about 50 yards away! It's a great ...

Daytrip to Redcliffe

... from Krispy Kreme - and got a box of 12 cream-filled chocolate donuts for free! Onwards towards Redcliffe, the Shorncliffe pier provided scenic views of Redcliffe and the Moreton Bay islands. A coast-hugging walkway heads north towards Sandgate, but we availed ourselves of motorised propulsion to view the old world Town Hall. Missed the Post Office - damn! Even my usually languid teenage son, who would in most instances only sneer in ...

Dempsey Gathering at Tangalooma

... and even Sophie gave it a go flying down an enormous sand dune, huge grins on their faces. There was a prize for the person who went furthest - did someone say competition?? True to form when there are goodies to be had Grant pulled out the stops and walked away with the T-shirt! Great food, family all together and lovely whether set the scene for a great weekend. There was more fun exploring the outdoor aquarium, volleyball and croquet before we got the ferry back home.
