    One of the highlights of the trip so far was our morning ballooning with Chris and Claire from "Ballooning in Tuscany". We had an early start (5am) to be down at the launch field for 5.40am and then we took off at about 6.30-6.45am on a beautifully sunny morning with fantastic views over the Tuscan countryside - the pictures hopefully do it more justice than any description I can ...

    After we left Pitigliano we headed west to check out Orvieto. Just as we were approaching the town we came upon a lookout where we could see the town sitting up on the hill. Breathtaking view. Although not technically in Tuscany it is a classic example of a hill town.

    ... but the experience was worth the longer, more leisurely stop.

    We did really well leaving Riomaggiore by 8 am and jot getting lost on our way to Tuscany! Before leaving Tuscany, we made a grocery store run. Tomorrow is a national holiday (Ferragosto) and everything will be closed.
