Kevin had the boar Bombette with three different fillings one rocket the and Parmesan, one mushroom and bacon, one buffalo mozzarella , I had Orecchiette with a slow cooked meat sauce,both very meaty dishes. Kevin's entree was meatballs and tomato sauce and I had beef carpaccio which is paper thin raw beef cut and served with rocket leaves and Parmesan. We had a half bottle of local Primativo red.     We are staying in a cave which is part of the old city of Matera. There are three sections to the room with all mod cons but within the original walls where people have lived for centuries. Lovely stone bath with plenty of hot water. Much appreciated after the long journey. Fascinating.

    Up at 5.30am (body alarm still active). I am taking advantage of this by doing a 30min walk around the top deck while watching the sun rise over a brilliant calm sea.
