... the weeniest bit at the surface. Super slippery.
It was the last day. Bring it on!!!.. I think that I was still in a sugar rush from the day before, ( remember the macaroons? the chocolate, the soft white icing? Ooh Mrs, Stop it!!
Anyway, I had something to prove, No-one laughs at a Sami reindeer Herder and gets away with it
No Sir !!
So, same routine ,sleds tied to the tree or truck with quick release hooks. 6 dogs ...
... as a bean was let go involuntarily.
What did emerge was an absolutely beautiful landscape of rolling hills and precipitous mountains and us swooping along amidst it all. It really was glorious.
The trail was road wide and very firm, the sun was shining but the blue sky had fluffy clouds.
The snow sparkled and glistened and we shot along effortlessly on the sleds. It was the very essence, the very heart of what these trips ...
... proving we are still 21. Having said that we wouldn’t have come without the long suffering Colette because she looks after us and curbs our occasional excesses.
Next, I do find this whole blog thing a trifle indulgent and it takes me a while to actually sit down, reconcile myself to it being OK and then getting on with it!! I do feel that you, Dear Reader are out there in reality, busying your self with omportant tasks, when you get a junk mail ...

... In fact, the second pool was closed due to a problem bear in the area. We enjoyed our dip but it was by far the hottest pools we'd been in, and after 20 minutes we felt like our skin was going to peel off.
Not far down the road again, we came across some stone sheep, munching on grass perilously close to the far edge of the road. The adults often look a bit tatty with their summer coats but the lambs are so cute!
The hot springs had made us rather lethargic and ...
... since the Yukon River is flowing north here. Those of us who have lived our lives along the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers know that a river should flow south and / or east. The Fish Ladder at this dam is quite interesting, with viewing windows. The Salmon are still downstream near Dawson City. They should reach Whitehorse in another two weeks.
The Yukon Territorial government building is small and modern. It was built in the 1970s. The security guard let us ...
... still good, despite the 27 years of living with a deaf man.
With our close call on reservations here in Whitehorse, we made two phone calls to parks in Kluane and Beaver Creek to ensure accommodations. The roads between Whitehorse and Beaver Creek are well known for their construction, washboards, and bottomless pits. The trips will be short, distance wise, but it will still take us hours to travel. This will definitely be a jolting experience and after ...
... route out of Hinton that would eventually take us to Grand Prarie on the scenic route. Grand Prarie is an agricultural area (canola fields of yellow flowers grace this area later in the summer), forestry, oil and gas make this town of 52,000 a regional center for northwestern Alberta and northeastern British Columbia and they have a Costco and Walmart! We camped in a beautiful spot at the Camp Tamarack RV Park. Too many ...
Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada woodrowtucsonStopped at Caribou Crossing, which is a place the tour buses bring people--very touristy and not worth the stop. Also stopped at Emerald Lake, which was beautiful.
At the Whitehorse Visitor Center, watched a 15-minute film about the Yukon. Found out many of the attractions do not open until June--Trolley, boat to Miles Canyon ...
... to go 'out' in Jan/Feb. We have added a new player, a young woman, Maegan, from ON who has curled a lot and now appears to be our third. We have ended up on the B side of our competitive night and still can't seem to find the winning way although we curl well, the others curl really well. Clearly, the new shoes and stabilizer aren't doing their jobs! We still are teaching curling once a week to school kids. There is a really strong School program here. Hugh is ...
