... on such a hot day. I don't think I have ever seen such a modern fort. It still had cannons. Walking around the beach near the fort, we passed many people fishing and a sandhill crane that was not afraid of us at all. There were many washed-up moon jellies and many more trapped in the surf. I felt sorry for them having no control over which direction they could move! Over head were some interesting birds; F/A-18 hornets according to Jonathan due to the naval base next ...

We stopped for pulled pork for lunch at a cute road side restaurant and kept going and going until Pensacola, Florida and stopped at a hotel in Golf Breeze. It was nice to see the water and palm trees again. And to feel warm ...

However, all the beaches were divine - white sand, a few waves, excellent access and best of all warm water and warm enough that I was happy to go swimming in the sea which says a lot. There was some green algae in some areas one day and we were told that this was caused by the warm water ...

          Howdy friends and family!

We have made it to the sunny state of Florida where we have decided to ditch the whole bike-riding thing and become beach bums, bronzing our skins on the white sand beaches and drinking frilly cocktails with fun little umbrellas in them! Just kiddin'! It is starting to really heat up again though... AND there are white sand beaches, but alas, we've decided to stick to our guns and continue pedaling.

From Baton Rouge, we met up with Theresa ...

We had every intention of leaving today, but Hitchcockian karma struck with a vengeance around 5:30 am. Barbara had a bout of vertigo and was confined to her back without moving her head. Fortunately, the KOA was nice (although Barbara had no idea), and we spent a leisurely day doing nothing—Barbara ...
