Historical Traveler Reviews Absolument Montreal B&B

Absolutely wonderful

from evzbakker

My new Fiance and I stayed at Absolutement Montreal for one night (only because it was sold out the next night) and it was beautiful. We stayed in the Bollywood room and it was better than anticipated. Kent was wonderful and allowed me to check in extremely early as my flight came in the morning, and he was a very gracious host. He had the perfect balance of privacy and yet he seemed to be there when needed. The breakfast was beyond amazing - I have never before seen or ate such a beautiful feast. The location was also very great - within walking distance to lots of great sights. I would highly, highly recommend this B&B.

Location, Location, Location!!!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Absolument Montreal over Labor Day weekend. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. The sheets, pillows, and mattress were of deluxe quality. The bathroom was modern and the shower contained two shower heads. Very nice toiletries, such as shampoos and lotions, were provided.

The owner was so nice to us and went above and beyond. My husband and I had to leave our toothpaste at the airport, due to new security regulations. The hosts were kind enough to give us a complimentary full size toothpaste. The owner also provided us, (without our asking), umbrellas on days it rained. In addition, the owner was kind enough to spend time giving us restaurant suggestions and helping us read our maps. The owner provides copious amounts of tourist information about Montréal in the hallway. In summary, the owner went out of his way to insure we had an excellent stay.

In my opinion, the breakfast and the location are the two features that make Absolument Montreal a stand out bed and breakfast. I have never had a breakfast like the ones we were served on our private front deck. It was at least three courses. The first course was a pastry course, which included the best bread I have ever tasted. In addition, the pastries were scrumptious. Next, there was a fruit course. The fruit was served artistically (I don't have the cooking sophistication to describe how it was served, but it was beautiful), and the selections changed daily. Finally, a hot item(s) was served. On the first day, we had an omelet with prosciutto and a delicious cheese, the second day we had quiche, and on the third day we had eggs, potatoes, and a gourmet croissant sandwich with ham and cheese. I do not do the food justice in my descriptions. However, there was so much to eat and it was so delicious, that we had no room for lunch.

The location of the bed and breakfast is perfect, especially for travelers not wanting to take a car. The Absolument Montreal is located 5 minutes walking distance from the subway. The subway stop for the Absolument Montreal is at a point where all the subway lines converge. Therefore, you can easily get to anywhere in the city from the subway station near the Absolument Montreal.

If you are staying in Montreal, I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

" When you think of a B & B, you think this should be nice. Absolument was beyond nice! Our loft was gorgeous and looked entirely brand new. Not only did we get breakfast, but it was a FABULOUS gourmet breakfast on our own private terrace. I felt like a queen. Absolument is a MUST!"

Fabulous!

This B&B is definitely one of the best we've ever visited. Here is a rundown:

Location: Just a short walk from the main subway hub (Berri Uqam) in an area that is part of the Latin Quarter. Not too much in the immediate area, though there are a couple of places to eat, and a nice fruit market within a block or two. Just a 5 minute walk from a huge, beautiful park, too. No parking - you have to pay for meters or a lot.

Food: The breakfast was delicious, inventive, and just plain impressive. Different each morning, it's cooked on the premises and served whenever you want in your room. Amazing, and since it's included in the room price, it's SUCH a bargain!

Rooms: Really nicely decorated, posh, clean and cozy. The spaces are small - tight bathroom and not much space in the room, though for a vacation of lounging on the bed and siteseeing, it's not a problem. Flatscreen TV and DVD player in the room.

Other: Small library with internet on premises. Jacuzzi in the yard, if you are inclined.

In general: We found the host to be friendly, accomodating, and very helpful (though not always on the premises, which is expected but can be a little annoying). He and his partner run the establishment, and we found that when the place was full, there was a slight lack of attention to detail (some towels not changed, breakfast got a bit smaller, etc), but overall we had a really positive experience.

Ideal for a romantic weekend getaway

from ltayl04

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Absolument bed and breakfast from 04/08/06 to 06/08/06. This b&b far exceeded our expectations for the price we paid and given that we booked at the last minute.

Location: The b&b is close to the highway and easy to find. Parking is ample on the street, or you can rent a spot at the b&b for $10/day. We went during pride week and the out games so the area around us was extremely lively and safe at all times of the day. It is only a 15 minute slow walk to the shopping area at St. Catherines, to the clubs on Crescent St., to the Latin Quarter on St. Denis, the pubs/bars on St. Laurent and the gorgeous historical area of Old Montreal.

Rooms: We stayed in the African room. It is quite small but very cozy and romantic. It was a scorching weekend, so we were relieved to find that each room was fitted with a personally controlled air conditioner. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets must have been at least 500 thread count! Each room comes with a set of bathrobes, 2 sets of towels, bedroom slippers, sandals to wear to the jacuzzi, a blowdryer, and other toilettries. The room is also equipped with an LCD screen and DVD player as well as a breakfast table. There is also access to to free wireless internet in your room or in the study, as well as maps, magazines and dvd's for your usage throughout your stay. Overall, the room was extremely clean, with plenty of bright sunshine, and an added bonus -- the beds were made up for us each morning!

Breakfast: The array, quality and freshness of breakfast items are too elaborate to describe. The first morning, we had breakfast in the garden where Kent brought out course after course. Breakfast started with freshly squeezed orange juice and tea or coffee. Next, a selection of fresh, delicious French pastries, followed by copious amounts of fresh fruit, ending with a savoury hot egg selection such as quiche or omlettes. Each course was presented very professionally, and it was evident that Kent and Stephane pay very close attention to detail in all aspects of their b&b.

We would definitley recommend this delightful B&B to anyone visiting Montreal because of its prime location, the comfort and cleanliness of the guest rooms, the gourmet breakfasts served each morning, the hospitality of the wonderful hosts and the value for the price paid. We cannot wait to return!

Great location and comfortable room

This B&B was a wonderful find. The location is great for dining and walking to many points on interest in Montreal. The host's were great as well as the food.

Absolument Fantastic!

from anonymous

I have recently been relocated by my company from Atlanta to Montreal, and before the least for my apartment began on July 1st, I decided to spend three nights at Absolument Montreal B&B.

I chose the Cinecitta guest room upstairs and was pleasantly surprised by the decoration, contemporary furnishings and the light from the skylight and patio doors. Also, I enjoyed my own private terrace, particularly in the morning for the generous, well-presented and tasty breakfasts, as they were served to me there. After one (very) late night carousing around town, I particularly appreciated being able to have breakfast served to me late (ie 11:45 am!)

Kent and Stephan were very good hosts, friendly, but not too much so, and have done a great job creating a very comfortable atmosphere with all the right extra touches...including the big jacuzzi in the garden and the library downstairs with PC and free Internet access.

I will highly recommend Absolument Montreal B&B to colleagues and to my friends visiting me here in Montreal!

Loved this B & B

I arrived with my sister early Friday evening, Kent was waiting for us and was wonderful as we had never been to Montreal before. Our room was lovely, great decor and a nice terrace to sit out on and relax after our flight. Breakfast was amazing, fresh fruit, cheeses, eggs, toast etc.. so much food and soooooo good. Also the BEST coffee I have ever had. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, great location, very clean, nice owners. I can't say enough.

Friendly, comfortable B&B in great Montreal location

from Miximura

I spent a week at the Absolument, and it was a very pleasant, comfortable, and friendly experience. Kent and Stephane (the owners) are very hospitable and helpful. They serve an excellent breakfast that got my day started on the right track. The room was very comfortable, and decorated in a charming contemperorary style. The location was great, near the metro, not too far from Vieux Montreal, downtown, the Plateau, and the village. I would highly recommend the Absolument, a great place to stay and relax when you're in Montreal.

Absolutely wonderful B&B

from CLAUDEPARIS

We just returned from a 6-day vacations in Montreal. We stayed at the "Absolument Montréal Bed and Breakfast" and it was an exceptional lodging experience!

We had a very large guest room called "Oscar Loft". This room was beautifully decorated and very confortable. We had a kitchenette, a fantastic king size bed , a day bed, a large dressing room, a great bathroom with very large shower, bathrobes, slippers, a LCD TV, a DVD player ( we were able to borrow dvd's from the owner's collection ), a private terrace... So much luxury for a very good price.

We also enjoyed the relaxing garden with the big jacuzzi.

Our hosts were very nice and helpful. And they are great cookers too! The copious and amzing breakfast was different each day. It was served in our room or in the garden between 8am and noon. This succulent breakfast offers delicious omelettes, bagels with prosciutto, waffles, fresh fruits, delicious gourmet yoghurt, cheese, muffins, quiches...

I can't wait to go back in this unforgettable B&B!
