Niagara again and return home

A travel blog entry by ahartry

Another perfect day. We spent some of the morning working, then did a tiny bit of shopping: we had seen a dress that looked perfect for Kyla, but at $600, it seemed excessive. So we gave up with the shopping and did more work.

Around noon, we departed Niagara on the Lake. We stopped at a final winery, which had been recommended to us … the name was Lailey – just across from the McFarland House. They are known for the c******nay ...

Yes its a tourist trap, but you just have to do it, CN-Tower. Towering above the city 553 m (apx 1650 feet). Give you a great view of the city. Might be a good thing to do on your first day there. You see the city and can point out things you want to see. Avoid the memorabilia hall on ...

First Day, Nothing Special

A travel blog entry by ericdvds

Techincally speaking the first day of the trip. I drove to the airport with my mom and dad while Luke, Alex, and Mrs. Pulla met us there. The timing was perfect because when I got to the airport Luke and Alex we're at the front of the bag drop line. I skipped the queue and dropped my bag off. after a coffee and goodbyes it was the three of us on our own. We said good bye to ...

    Great Stay w/great Hosts!

    from harrodt

This was an absolutely wonderful experience! Mike & Pauline were truly gracious hosts and made our stay all the more enjoyable with their suggestions, courtousies, and superb hospitality. They know the local area and can give you invaluable tips on activities, restaurants, and the local favorites. We will come again and this will be our first choice.

    Wonderful stay

    from helenNorthumberland

Stayed for three nights at Abacot Hall. We have visited Niagara on the Lake before and always love to return to this lovely town. This was our first stay at Abacot Hall and we certainly hope it will not be our last. Mike and Pauline were perfect hosts and through their help and recommendations our stay was a memorable experience.

    We found a Treasure Chest

    from GringoNorthCarolina

We had never heard of Niagara on the Lake and found it researching B& B's near Niagara Falls. We had no idea how beautiful, charming, and picturesque it would be. We were equally charmed by Abacot Hall and Mike and Pauline Hussey, our hosts. They not only provided a warm and lovely place to stay, but helped us organize our first trip to the area. We reserved the Niagara Falls Package, which included our stay at Abacot, four events at Niagara Falls, and a breathtaking 30 minute airplane flight over Niagara Falls, the gorge, the canal, NOTL, and a bit of Lake Ontario. This package proved to be just right for our first trip to NOTL, but didn't begin to touch the surface of this area that is full of cottages with English gardens, wonderful restaurants, devine shopping, beautiful vineyards, and exquisite theatre offerings. My husband said, "We have found a treasure chest here." Mike and Pauline provided a warm welcoming, great food, a lovely, comfortable Victorian room, and just the right amount of advice and assistance with what to do , where, when and how. They provided discount coupons and access to area sights and businesses. We wish they were closer so we could go more often, but we will definitely plan a return trip to discover more treasures. Consistently Delightful

    from TomMiller

We stay with Mike and Pauline every year and are consistently delighted with the hospitality and comfort we enjoy during our visits. As a home base to experience all that NOTL has to offer, Abacot Hall is top notch. We feel like friends as much as guests at this comfortable and well-located B&B. Departing is an annual struggle (like wrestling a rabid bear). NOTL is an all around wonderful destination for anyone who fancies theater, wine, food, natural (and tastefully constructed) beauty, art, outdoor activity, and genuinely nice people. We highly recommend accepting recommendations from Pauline and Mike who possess a flare for food, theater, and art, as well as a knack for tailoring suggestions to the interests and styles of each individual or group. It is our opinion that "paying up" a bit while in NOTL is well worth the splurge. Great value can be found even at somewhat steep price levels in a town where culinary excellence compliments the brilliant theater of the Shaw Festival. But there is great value in the middle too, and "paying up" is not necessary. As for the Shaw Fest, it rivals and often surpasses the quality of New York Off-Broadway theater; and it's easily better than Broadway. Can't wait to return.

    Wonderful Inn

    from HeatherMcKay

My husband and I just finished a long stay at Abacot Hall and it was absolutely wonderful. Pauline and Mike were the perfect hosts and made us feel welcome through our stay like we were truly part of their family. The rooms were nice and very clean. Breakfast was amazing. They offer a full menu of breakfast choices skillfully prepared by Mike each morning. We went through nearly each menu item (some two or three times) during our long stay and each item was more delicous than the next - the three cheese and chive omelett with pear sauce was incredible! Another huge plus is they offer wireless internet, which came in handy! NOTL is really a great town and we had such a wonfderful stay. We would absolutely recommend Abacot Hall and plan to visit again!

One of the best B and B's

    from KelleyMassachusetts

Our stay at Abacot Hall was great. The individual attention that Pauline and Mike paid to us really made us feel comfortable and "at home". There were so many nice little extra touches such as mints on the end table before bed, the coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar accessible to guests at any time and the comfortable lounge area. The hosts were always available to make suggestions as to places to visit, golf courses, restaurants etc.and when we returned eager to hear our comments regarding the day. This was one of the best B&B's that we have stayed at and we will return some day to beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake.

    Top Notch Bed & Breakfast

    from vabeach0613

My husband and I booked Abacot Hall to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. We had a wonderful weekend. Pauline and Mike are excellent, attentive hosts, and we thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated their gracious hospitality. Pauline was very helpful in suggesting some of the area attractions, and Mike's breakfast was superb! It was great to be given so many breakfast choices (unlike most B & B's) and his homemade whole wheat bread is delicious!

The house is very conveniently located, and the rooms are comfortable, very clean and inviting. Great balcony overlooking a beautiful yard! We will look no further on our next trip to Niagara-on-the lake!

    My dreams came true!!!!!

    from VanessaT04

I had an amazing weekend at Abacot Hall at the end of March we stayed for the weekend package with the wine tour. Pauline and Mike were truly amazing and they made our weekend spectacular. I had very good contact with them before our arrival and while we were they they helped us find a romantic restaurant, During this weekend I got engaged and on our final day Pauline and Mike had a card for us. It was truly a magical weekend it was the perfect setting for our engagement. We intend to spend more weekends at Abacot Hall.

    Real Hospitality

    from gjdejonge

We booked Abacothall for just two nights to be able to visit Niagara Falls and surrounding (as we were in a very tight time-schedule). Pauline informed us about the posibilities an helped us to set priorities. Result: relaxed and informative trips with great satisfaction. Mike did a great job on our breakfast so we started each day well prepared.

We had a really good time, meeting hospitality and service at top level. Abacot Hall is to be recommended to anyone and we are glad to support Pauline and Mike this way.

    Quiet rooms, lovely hosts

    from feld

We booked this lovely, quiet, clean b&b for a one night stay. We had a room with a private bath (not ensuite) for a reasonable price. Abacot Hall is a 8 minute walk from the main street. It was everything you're looking for in a bed and breakfast - A delicious breakfast, comfortable beds, romantic atmosphere, pretty, and easy to find (I hate driving around town looking for the place). And the hosts were friendly and nice. I'd recommend it to any couple looking for a B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
