Were going to have it changed in Whitehorse at Walmart, but it was Sunday and I quess the employees didn't believe in coming to work. It was 10:00 and the mechanics weren't on the job yet. After our journey through the looney bin capital of Alaska, we only had about 45 minutes at camp before we headed off to dinner at a local restaurant named "Fast Eddy's" where we ate a very large, delicious meal.

We got as far as loading the PT on the car hauler, but won't strap it down until morning because the mosquitoes are swarming voraciously.

They also have wireless internet so I won’t have to go sit in the food court at the BX like I did last time we stayed on base. There is a town in Alaska on the Taylor Highway between Tok and Dawson City named Chicken. The story goes that the original settlers of the town wanted to name the town after the state bird, the ptarmigan, but did not know how to spell it. Since the ptarmigan resembles a chicken, sort of, they did the next best thing and named the town Chicken. The post office is Chicken has been operating since 1903 ...

Rain was threatening so we moved all our bags, tote boxes and cooler into the front, pumped up the air mattress in back and slept in the back of the Escape for the night. Even though it was still light, we quickly fell asleep after our long drive through the vastness of the Yukon and Alaskan Interior.
