... Anchorage though. I got talking to David on the train, he had just finished a cycle tour on Alaska and was going home to Juneau on the ferry. ... I’m filling the water tanks and just went to the harbormaster’s office to pay for our time here…thinking positive that we will be able to leave early in the morning. Our next destination is Glacier Bay, though we still haven’t been able to get a permit. We’re not sure when we will have internet again, and also are not sure where we will be going from Glacier Bay.

... a creek. The ziplines were about 300-400 feet long with the longest being 750 feet long. The longest still only took 15 seconds to traverse. The final zipline was reached by crossing a suspension bridge but we were hooked into a safety line while crossing it. ... an old church and then Mendenhall Gacier. Very scenic with a waterfalls at the bottom right. On the way back our driver gave us a little family history. He had 11 brothers and sisters. His Mom was Native and was from the area while his father was from the Philippines. A large number of filipinos had immigrated to the area. His father decision to move to Juneau was more accidental. Today we landed in Juneau. We had learned from the naturalist that we had to wake up early to see the whales. So we set the alarm (which didn't go off) and did manage to get up at 7 am local time. We opened the curtains to see - clouds, light rain, and some misty fog. Not like the day before, we could see quite a bit, but most of the land was enshrouded in foggy rain. ... the turn off for Granite Creek Trail. We had planned on doing this and preceeded another 1.5 miles with a 1200 foot elevation gain to Granite Creek Basin. The trail was narrow and started with a lot of swtichbacks and some local Juneau trail preservers were cleaning it up (weed whacking the heck out of it). ... other jobs. I had an interview last weekend to do housekeeping at a small bed and breakfast. The owner is really nice and so far I'm supposed to start this Friday, working 3 days a week. We can't stay here at the hotel much longer and don't even want to. We have been looking at some places but it's quite hard ...
