    Today was a very interesting day. Mostly hot hiking until we came across a piped spring and met an amazing individual. His name was Robert and he was day hiking with his beautiful black lab Bently. We shared stories and lightly got to know one another with many similarities. Fort Worth ties, Ketchikan ties, plenty of overlap. He gave us plenty of beta on upcoming miles and caches up the way. It was a good meeting and we parted happier than we came. ...

The book , in and of itself, was beautiful with large, glossy photos of mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and cultural sites from places whose names were alien to me.
