... meal, as we were ready to head north to Long Beach, and there are fewer restaurants to choose from there. We sat at a window overlooking the Columbia, just east of the Astoria-Megler Bridge and I am pretty sure I saw a whale break water just in front of the restaurant. Then we heard the owner talking about how they have had a pod of whales in the river for the last couple of weeks. We watched for a while ...

... have expected, I think I love Astoria! Other sights I saw were the Oregon film museum (small jailhouse that's now a museum), with Goonies stuff all over the place and tiny prison cells, and had a wander around downtown, mad selection of shops there. They also had a store section where people were ...

... with lots of tourism information. We’re still early in the season so there are only 3 of us in the come-and-go part. There are about a dozen RVs in the seasonal section of permanent residents. It’s a good mix.

Astoria is a pretty town of older houses and quaint old downtown. We spent the afternoon wandering around town, in and out of antique shops, wine purveyors and gift shops, upscale and otherwise. It caters to tourists. Twice ...

... worth walking, rollerblading or cycling. It starts at the north end of Long Beach and is a (mostly) paved path that allows you to travel south to Beard's Hollow, then east to Ilwaco. Besides endless views of the sea and sky, there are several monuments by the trail erected to commemorate Lewis and Clark's visit to the area including a ...
