Well I'm off to see Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. My son and daughter are over there and invited me to come and stay awhile. My son said he didn't know it was for 6 weeks, but it was ok because my visa is only for 90 days so he knows he can send me back. LOL.

When I planned this journey, my life was in a different place.

Make no mistake, excitement builds in me as I am driven to the airport for what will be an expedition of twenty two days taking me to new places, new cultures and, well, new everything. But, there is newness at home that puts this trip on notice that if any part of it lags I will be homesick.

About half way across the state, Ike started to get excited because we are almost to the first "White Castle" hamburger place--he can't wait to order a dozen "sliders" and talks about it for hours. When we get there, it will mean we are at St. Charles, Missouri--almost to Illinois!! He gets his burger fix--I can't really see what the hype is, unless you like "soggy buns"!!

During our travels today on our way to spend the night in Topeka, we stopped in the old Santa Fe town of Atchison Kansas and visited their Atchison Rail Museum. They have quite a collection of Santa Fe rolling stock in a park like setting along with a small gauge park train.
