We then went on the Anchorage trolley that went around and taught us about Anchorage's past from tent city to the 1964 earthquake. It was very interesting and taught me a lot about the history of Anchorage and how Alaska became a state. My dad had ...

An unimpeded wilderness. As our very knowledgeable bus driver said "we come, we observe, we leave, leaving no trace that we have been there. We are visitors and the wildlife are the residents". John Muir: "Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. ...

Life in Alaska is grand. The Alaskan summer - the hottest on record – is at its peak and the daylight never ends. Alaskans are frenetically gardening, fishing, biking and hiking, lolling and strolling their way through these halcyon days. This glorious summer will end all too soon, cooling into the golden days of Fall and then chilling into Winter and my first ever white Xmas.

    The story so far…
