Just across from it is the Chapel of St Nicholas erected in 1906 over the grave of Father Nicholai, who was much loved locally for administering the smallpox vaccine when Natives in other communities were dying in their hundreds from the disease.

      ... they see there aren’t that bad though they do often look like they have just rolled in the dirt or come out from under a car right before going to Walmart. They plan to take me into Walmart when I return to Anchorage towards the end of my holiday, that is if I am dirty enough to go!!
