Rome, Lazio, Italy lisapatootie... very apparent reason which has to do with its gigantic size. The second and lesser known but more commonly believed derives from the "colossal" statue of Nero that stood outside the theatre of which only the base planted with five trees remains to this day.
When you first walk up to this amazing building, it's hard to believe that it has been there for almost 2000 years and difficult not to be struck with awe ...
... but they got the earlier, cheaper tickets. Oh well. We then had to wait for like a half an hour before the bus came. When we went down to wait for the bus, we had to wait for longer too because it was late. The bus ride took a little longer than expected, plus I was getting really carsick. We tried to watch a couple of episodes of the Office. They were pretty funny. That show is really growing on me. Luckily we stopped at a ...
Rome, Lazio, Italy amberleeRome, of course, lived up to all of its stereotypes and exceeded all of my expectations. It is a modern city in an ancient setting whose citizens are slightly off-beat, but yet it seems to work for them, and you, as long as you can keep pace (hence that ¨When in Rome...¨ thing). There to accompany me and prevent me from wandering aimlessly into Roman traffic was my college friend, Chris, who flew in from London for the express purpose of ...

Rome, Italy kmidgette... When the top is finally reached there are a number of doors and staircases that branch off from the main courtyard, rooms filled with exscuiste art and artifacts, one room containing some of the most amazing, rich marble and gold floor, wall and roof designs I've ever seen, there is another branching courtyard, lined with actual catapults and the stones which were once shot from them, breathtaking. These are only mere portions of ...
Rome, Italy lauren__11... that..we also wandered around the Forum but none of those famous Romans, Cicero, Caesar, etc were hanging about but my hangover sure was. We had to check out the "Mouth of Truth.." I lied to it and kept my hand, but this could be more to do with the fact that i lied and then took my arm out at the speed of lightening (pausing only to beat down crowds of school kids to take a photo..)
Rome, Italy itsem... and Piazza Navona. Nov 4 We started the day at the Sistine Chapel. We did this in anticipation of the lines getting longer as the day progressed. We climbed St. Peters at noon for a great view. At the end of the day we ended up watching some weird celebrity on the Spanish Steps. We never did figure out who she was, if anybody.
