... rain had followed us to the hike. Our first stop was the Kapa'a Stream where two waterfalls were located. We made our way through magnificent tall trees, picking our way cautiously through slightly muddy terrain. ... place i have only ever seen in movies or postcards, it still doesn't feel real to me. Day dreaming away is soon interrupted by livs chin thudding into the base of my back as i brake woops!.

... and, thanks to a bit of kayaking experience and a previous go at SUP on Fiona and Michael Pemberton's board at Clifton Beach a few years ago, I was the only one who could stand up straight away and who didn't fall off. In fact, the hardest parts were carrying the very big and very heavy board to the beach (and back again later), and having to start out sitting on your knees - standing up is much easier! ... that turned off and became a volcano out of which Pele, the god of fire, appeared. Pele told of the golden people of Hawaii. There was also a Samoan Fire dancer. The Maori women did poi dancing in which they swung tethered weights rhythmically, and with weights that were on fire. It was all over too soon. I drove us back to the condo where I worked on the blog, Derek and Larry went to bed, and Erin went out to the beach to watch the moon on the water.
