... I wish I would have had my tabis at that point. The lava pools in this area have a green color that really contrasts with the blue of the ocean. Some of the pools are pretty deep. I would not have wanted to swim in them though. There is always the potential for a wave to break over the shelf and knock you around. It is best to stay away from areas where the rocks are wet because it means that waves have reached that spot recently. ...

We headed back to Eleele so Nectar could retrieve his car. We ate lunch at McDonalds since we were starving and already in the parking lot.
We wanted to go to the Art Night in Hanapepe, but it was only early afternoon, so we headed over to the Kauai Coffee Company. The self guided tour was interesting and we bought some coffee for Nick's mom. We found some shops in Waimea to buy some cheap souvenirs.
... and I sunned for a while. Drove back through Hanapepe and stopped where I bought the Niihau bead earrings last year to talk with BeBe who runs the place. We ended up at her home in the hills—we wanted to look at it as she rents the downstairs by the month and we will probably spend next year renting it, after our 2 weeks at Mokihana (and the end of Phils timeshare there!). It has 2 bedrooms and a roll-away bed, a private pool, yard and all the trimmings. ...
... that we see is relative happiness. Do they smile, are they happy, will they have good memories? I think these are all a resounding yes. How much smarter or 'stupider’ they are, I don’t know. We saw some cool stuff, spent time with some great people and laughed a lot together and we were in great days and challenging days together. That seems like a fair return on investment.

... along the coast to do some snorkelling, the water was a bit rough but it was great fun. Travelled up front on the bowsprit for a while but then we started to go through one of Kauai's famous rainstorms (there has to be a reason why the island's so green) so I sat under cover at the back. Luckily after a while we passed right on through the rain and emerged to beautiful weather on the other side at the southwest ...
