After the goat escap-ades, we wandered in the gardens and pulled a few weeds and explored the flower beds. The yard has fruit trees (plums, apples, cherries and pears) and there is an old filbert (hazelnut) orchard in the pasture and a lovely fig tree in the front yard. I hope figs are ripe before I leave Oregon and available at a fruit stand as I have never had a fig right off the tree and I bet fresh figs ...

... s Trail and followed that up to the summit. Oh, my Quantum Particles!!! There was so much uphill - and so steep!!! It took us 1 hour to walk the first 2 miles! Along the way we met a handful of other outdoor types - walkers, joggers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. Most seemed very familiar with the terrain, but a few seemed as confused and shocked as we were by the elevation gain in such a short time.

Needless to say, we did not complete two loops. We ended up walking ...

Saturday February 23, 2013 - walked from Turner, OR to Salem, OR. 6.55 miles - in 1 hour 37 minutes, 30 seconds. That time blows the 16 minute mile to HELL!! Whoo- Hooo!!!
