Okay, try to follow this - we docked in Mount Manguanui, which is right near the town of Tauranga, but all the action in this area takes place in Rotorua, which is about an hour drive away. So we got on a bus that took us up to Rotorua, which is in an ancient caldera that holds Lake Rotorua and the town, which is noted for its thermal activity and mineral springs. First, we headed to a park that focuses on the ...

glacier. My photos can not illustrate how spectacular this was.

... driver instructed everyone on the bus to bring nothing into the park except for plain water. Bears roam freely in the area and can get confrontational if you even have flavored water. After seeing the size of some bears I have no doubt who would win in a confrontation. The parking lot has bear proof garbage containers and we later found out, so does downtown Juneau. The glacier is spectacular and you can get great pictures from the visitor's center ...

... running through the glacier. As the water melts, it makes a path through the I've and eventually falls down a big hole. The water is very pure and you can get down a drink it. Our guide showed us the push up method of drinking, where you put a hand each on two rocks and get down as if you are doing a push up and put your mouth in the river and drink. Charlotte tried this and got the latter part correct, in that she got her ...
