We then visited the Museum of the North, also on the university campus.  The Alaska Gallery has artifacts, stuffed animals, geological samples, and gold nuggets, divided into the regions of the state. We spent several hours enjoying the exhibits.

... but the fields that have grown there are full of every color of flower. The blackened trees are sad to look at, but it is a part of the cycle of renewal here, plus there were tons of baby trees growing :)

After crossing the Tanana River, you head back into the curvy mountain roads, where on the outer curves there are breath-taking views of the valley below, with a wide river winding around huge pine trees. Almost no civilization and the moutains are almost gone into ...

... Hubby will also be toting along the 3 Skype phone. Not yet available in the US, I am going to be given one when we land in Europe to review. All the guidebooks and all of my friends who had been to Europe told me, just buy Italian train tickets once you get to Europe...unless you have specific trains and days you want to travel, then you should book in advance.
