I've made it a habit to bring Italo Calvino's book Invisible Cities with me when I travel. I have never actually finished the book (the magic feels like it will fade away if you do that, so the last few entries in the book have been left unread), but it's a collection of impressions and descriptions of the places travelled to by Marco Polo. ... it started to climb. It then dropped the stick! Noooo!!!! Fortunately a branch below caught the stick. So the bird made its way down, picked it up again and started its climb (again) toward its goal.
I couldn’t wait until the end as I was on my way to work, but I thought ‘what a wonderful sight – Spring must be here’.
