... Changing of Guard. Could not get near the front gate - thousands of people. Got out of there and caught bus to St Pauls cathedral. Did a self guided tour through this amazing cathedral site dating back to 600. Current church re built after London fires around 1700 by Charles Wren. We climbed approx. 500 stairs in different sections to Whispering gallery under the great dome, then on to 2 further levels with magnificent views of London. ...
We visited one of the most beautiful gardens in England this week -- Kew Gardens. We're so lucky that Kew Gardens is only a short walk from our apartment. Founded in 1840, but actually begun in the 1750's, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site full of history and natural beauty. The gardens are huge, miles and miles of paths to explore, with the world's largest collection of living plants.
There are several large greenhouses, including the famous Palm House built between 1844 ...

From there we lost ourselves in the galleries of the V&A for a couple of hours and marvelled at the extensive collection of everything from the ancient to the modern, wrought iron to fine art, sculpture, glass, ceramics, fabrics and clothing, rugs, architecture and on and on.
