... being in the outback in Aus. Turns out we were going to be in NZ at the same time and decided to rent a car to explore the South Island. Our only conversation pertaining to planning this thing was,“try and get a car and meet me at the airport”. Since neither one of us has a phone out here, we were both skeptical that it was would actually work out.Well sure enough, I land…and there is Josh. He rented a Nissan “Sunny”. As Fiji was beckoning we then had to spend a few hours in the library organising accommodation and boat tickets, and we desperately need to do a spot of shopping for our week in the sun. My Bolivian quality £1.50 sunglasses had broke (would you Adam and Eve it!) and so I needed some new ones. And Luke had lost his swimming shorts so he needed a pair of them.

... drinking was still excellent. As well as the
quality of the pinot noir, the relative low yields to other major
regions in the world leads to some quite hefty price tags - a very
enjoyable day out, and one which will probably cost me a few quid in
high end wine shops back in the UK as I try in vain to pretend I'm

Horse politics aside, it was a great ride, I was pretty nervous starting up and then when we started going up and down boggy hills I was convinced I was going to fall off. But we soon got used to it, and enjoyed the amazing scenery and movie gossip. We're going to be sore in the morning. We are now heading north to the Northern part of South island and hopefully we'll have time for North island.....

... sommes ensuite parti en direction en l'Otago vers le Lac Wanaka. Nous avons sejourne quelques jours au pied du glacier Rob Roy en pleine nature entoures de paysage magnifiques et de moutons en libertes qui n'hesitaient pas a nous bloquer la route. Nous en avons profite pour faire de belles marches et meme se baigner dans l'eau qui coulait du glacier ( vraiment pas chaud!). Finalment, le vent s'est mis a souffler portant Phillipe ...

As part of our trip around the south island it was necessary to pass through Christchurch and Kaikoura again to reach the North island. We had already explored Christchurch so we decided to relax and enjoy just wandering around the city in the sunshine.

... a bit of mascara makes us instantly feel more human! We walked down to the bar expecting it to be bouncing (well we can hope can't we) but the DJ wasn't even on. We chatted to the barmaid who arranged for us to get a courtesy shuttle to the River Inn - 5 mins out of town where there were 3 bands playing. Cover charge of $20 each ... no way!!! We stood outside discussing if to blag it or go back to the camper. Thankfully we managed to blag it down to $10 each (4 quid ...

... from home, which was great. Thanks very much to whoever sent us anything ;)

I'd bought everyone small presents, and had managed to buy Hutchy a selection of weird & wonderful presents from the equivalent of a Poundland store!

I'm not sure he expected us to buy him anything, and he seemed quite chuffed with his bunny ears, pellet gun and glasses with the eyes falling out, slinky style!
