Leaving Lockerbie with a lingering sense of sadness, we make our way to Edinburgh where we have booked an apartment hotel for 2 nights.

Neither of us have ever been to Edinburgh before and are a bit surprised at the very narrow, cobblestoned streets ...

... covenanters that opposed Charles 1 of England- exposure to the scottish winter, starvation, whippings and salt torture created the most brutal and sad aspect of Edinburgh history. In the end those who survived the 5 month torture were shipped to the indies for indentured labour but he ship sunk and only 7 survived. Before the original battle there were 5000 men. Crazy waste of lives.
