With an inland and mostly agricultural route ahead, it was a day we just had to get through but ultimately the scenery was a lot better than we thought. And supposedly this contained the last big climb of the tour - heard that before. It is agreed by both parties that if this data had been provided by the alternate source, divorce would most definitely be on the cards. After getting out of Pismo and avoiding the campground we were soon ...

    A long ride

I wanted to wrap up the new year with my longest ride of the year. I decided to ride from Rob's over the hills to Vandenberg AFB. It was a tough 11 miles getting over the coastal range but I made it.
After a 10 mile tour of the base, I still had the return ride.

But, before we fed them, we had to read a long list of things to do and not do. After that, we got a bowl of Ostrich feed.

Adult Ostriches are about 7-8 feet tall, and some of them tried to steal the bowl from us. After that, we got to just watch the Ostriches "frolic" ...

... refitting everything and repacking, so this is not a task you want to do too often! We set off in Karl's car late morning and drove North up the coast. Stopped off for a bite to eat, overlooking the sea, and walked along the beach looking for sand dollars. We made Shealagh (who was the only one in sandals) go and fill a bottle of water from the sea. We will take it to the East coast and let it go there. Apparently thats what one is supposed to ...
