    ... the area south of Stowe and found the Von Trapp family lodge from where they moved to the USA from Austria. The hills were alive with the sound of our hire car struggling up the steep, bendy road that led to the lodge, which is now being used as a ski resort lodge. We went back to the hotel for a relaxing dinner, then chilled out playing cards with a couple of drinks from the bar, which we were ID'd for - we still look young!     ... I had looked at that cost $100 to $1,400!

    The game was great - everything that baseball ought to be. The hometown fans were enjoying themselves, the announcers were funny (and corny), and there was a distinct local flavor to everything that occurred. We had a lot of fun watching "Champ" the team mascot who is based on the local myth of a sea monster in the lake.

    ... we are able to make our turn around and head back up the hill and back to the main road. We find the correct ferry and make the crossing safely in about 12 minutes. Mike is still a bit white knuckled while we rock and roll our way across, but we got there!

    ... of Burlington and then a 14 minute ferry trip across the lake on a lovely evening with a beautiful sunset. Just perfect.








    Stopped into a sweet little place for a seafood dinner (fresh seafood from Maine) along the way and then it was home to our cheap and cheerful hotel for the night and time for retail round up!
