... Crowland for lunch. It's amazing what you find off the major roads. We had lunch near a small three way bridge that crossed a stream at it's junction with another, hence the need for a three way bridge. It was called Trinity Bridge, and the first bridge on the site dates from the year 970AD (no there's not a number missing from the year). There's a statue on the bridge that is thought to be either Christ, or King Ethelred.

This is a city with a very mixed past, from ROMAN, then the Vikings followed by the GERMAN until 1066 when William the Conqueror, defeated them and started a long period of English King, not of course without intrigue and bloodshed.

It's almost 6 hours drive from Chorley to Overstrand, but everyone were very excited. We choose scenic route through The Snake Pass, in Peak District instead of motorways.
