It was Julie's nephew’s 3rd birthday celebration starting at midday and Jenny’s was not open for breakfast until 10 so we loaded the car and set off for the day, hoping to find somewhere for a bacon sandwich or similar. A fairly quiet day. The rain in the morning was incessant, pouring out of leaden skies as far as the eye can see. We didn't rush to get out and about. The only relief from continuous rain was when it occasionally turned into hail or a soggy excuse for snow which was never going to stick because it was landing in rainwater.
