... A way for another guy to make a few bucks. Here they charge an extortionate $1. It's Viazul exclusive so only rich gringo pinata's come here. He tried short changing me too. I am not surprised.

The 5 hour bus ride went quick enough. About an hour out of Santi we passed through Guantanamo. This may just be my ignorance but before I came here I had no idea Guantanamo Bay was in Cuba. I knew it wasn't in the US and in this general vicinity but I wouldn't have guessed it ...

We already had plans for dinner, but when he showed us the size of an arm, we couldn't resist and booked it for lunch instead. Annie won twice! After dinner, we were all exhausted and a few of us walked back home to our ...

... get back. A very good adventure all in all. Aimara organized a surprise for Fran's birthday which she is very good at. Everyone was at the house at 6 and with bicycle taxis outside off we went to a restaurant on the western side of town. All nicely set up and with one of their fantastic cakes. Entrees and side dishes were great. They should have stopped there. In fact at one point we thought they had, as we waited over an hour for our mains ...

Finding out how things work here in Cuba

Fortunately the next day worked out much better for me. Not only had I finally overcome my tiredness, but I had also found out where to get bottled drinks for fair prices and where inexpensive food was served for local money (i.e. Moneda Nacional). Being in a much better mood, I walked a lot through ...
