We caught the earliest possible train to Venice. It was the longest train journey yet. But this gave me some more time to catch up on my blog. After navigating through the train station, we pulled our suit cases along the cobbled streets of Venice in the direction of the hotel. In that short walk we got to see so much of Venice, I now have a good taste of what Venice will be like in the days to come. ...

A Grand Time at the Grand Canal

... the winding streets, and which alleyways to cut through. The Rialto Bridge was lovely, and the Grand Canal buzzing with people, and we spent a while pushing through throngs of people to take snapshots of the scene before us. We both finish with a sweet and refreshing limoncello on ice before heading home for ...

... along the Riva was interesting to say the least. SO many divas wanting their picture taken with the head thrown back & arm resting unnaturally on the side of the bridge with a dreamy, romantic look in their eyes. What the.....? Honestly, I just don't get it! Like our friend Bern at home, who has an invisible sign on her forehead saying "talk to me", I must have a sign saying "let me take your photo!". I have lost count of the people who have asked me to take their picture but I ...

    Arriving in Venice

... for a 15 min ride. " How much is it by the public water transport ?" we ask. " He says " 7 , but it will take you about an hour and then you have to walk to your hotel from the stop. ( with our suitcases, backpacks etc. )
" I will take you right to your hotel in 15 minutes " he says. Well that's a huge difference in price, so we decide to tough it out. We join the queue for the public transport, there are dozens of people ahead of us and the sun ...
