This morning we drove through Slovenia's only National Park. The park covers a few mountains near the Slovenia, Italy, and Austria borders. The road over the mountain contains 50 switchbacks/hairpin turns; that doesn't count other turns, just the severe ones! Grant, had the pleasure of driving with other drivers who like to use both lanes, along with motorcycles, ...

Today we picked up a rental car and headed for the mountains! As with many rentals, we got something bigger than we reserved because that was what they had...it's not too big though, and so far it has treated us well. We were supplied with a map showing most of the towns points of interest which can all ...

... and on our merry way. Our driver, drove quickly, except when he needed to brake suddenly to go over a speed bump, or wave to a friend in another vehicle. He did not say much, but we did arrive at the assembly point safely despite some scares.

Here we were provided wet suits, life preservers and helmets. Sam and Blake got an additional layer of a bright orange shirt for visibility. Then we played some games to make sure ...

... can imagine my amazement when we walked through a scattering of outside tables of an alpine restaurant to a spacious cage where there it was, a huge, brown bear, all teeth and claws and leaping up on its hind legs to greet us. I had never even see a brown bear before and was absolutely awestruck. Despite its roomy surroundings, I couldn’t help feel that it was cruel to have such a magnificent creature effectively behind bars and didn’t want to take photos. It was certainly ...
