My first whitewater experience was here at Wildwater. We had come as a group out for the weekend of whitewater and hiking in the Smoky Mountains. As a big group, they broke us up into three rafts and discussed safety information. The guides were entertaining and funny and kept everyone amused, even during safety instructions. Our guide was Channing. After we got our stuff, we boarded a school bus with the rafts on top and drove to the launch spot. It was right on the state line at a power plant and there were several other buses dropping off rafters. Soon, we got in the water, which was calm and slow-moving at first. Soon there were a few rapids and everyone got thoroughly wet. I was at the front right of the raft and definitely got splashed the most. We also splashed got splashed by other rafts during the slower sections. At one calm spot towards the end, we has the chance to jump out of the raft and swim for a bit before finishing it up. Overall, I had a lot of fun. It wasn't too challenging and may be a bit slow for more experienced people. But its great for beginners, and the staff at Wildwater were great. They also have showers to rinse off when you get back.
