The minute I landed in Bangkok for the third time in 3 years, I knew exactly what I wanted to do - Tiger Temple, where the peaceful monks walk in the quiet of tiger / deer territory - or so legend had it. I won't say that it wasn't worth the experience, incredibly glad to have visited, but it just felt a tad unfair (for lack of a better word) that these massive beautiful beasts were the center of a largely commercialized setting. Plus with rumors of drugged tigers floating around, it was more than just a tiny bit unsettling. Would I go back ? Possibly not
