pushy, rude Indians

price too high for foreigners, pushy, rude Indians who walk in the way when you are trying to photograph. The Indians don't obey the rule - not sitting, not photography, no talking

Just As You Would Expect
erinbutler 19 contributions Connecticut, USA, United States Feb 27, 2013
The Taj was a little pricey for admission, but was so worth it. It is more grand than you will ever see in photos and is, obviously, a must see. You will be awed by the way the land is upkept: no trash, not a spec of dirt anywhere.

The Taj-need I say more?
electracity 5 contributions United States Dec 20, 2012
The name is self explanatory; amazingly beautiful! I would recommend anyone to see this place at least once. The king built this for his wife and was very close to building his own black mahal until his son stopped him. From the back, you can see the foundation laid out for the black taj mahal.

Wonderful and impressive Taj Mahal
dijoh2o 1 contribution Asmterdam, Netherlands Dec 4, 2012
The Taj is remarkable for its perfect proportions with rich "pietra dura" with minute details on walls and pillars executed with great skill. The building, often called "a dream in marble", is said to have taken at least 18 years to build from 1631 to 1648. It marks the most developed stage of Mughal architecture.

This place is huge -
unplugged 18 contributions San Diego, United States Oct 7, 2012
The most misleading thing about the Taj Mahal is that 75% of the place is never portrayed in pictures! The place is amazing. Give your self plenty of time to see the entire site, get a guide and then get rid of them so that you can just wonder around and take photos.
The walk to the TaJ is down a long road, you will be hustled by beggars, adults and children, people selling you things - they are relentless! Don't make eye contact, keep walking, it is the battle of wills!!!! When you leave the hustle is even worse. Seeing the Taj is great, but the hustle of the street people is a real bummer and is the final impression of this great place. This review is the subjective opinion of a TravelPod member and not of TravelPod.com.

Hard to digest, how can you have such a magnificent place surrounded by so much poverty and filth. People just don't care of having garbage all around them. Someone has to do something about it....

One of the Seven Wonders of the the World!!
jocdenver 0 contribution San Diego, United States Sep 18, 2012
If you are in India, the Taj Mahal is is a must see. I was only in India for four days, and it was well worth spending a day traveling there from New Delhi and seeing it. I hired a driver/car for 3800 rupees and we took 3 hrs by car to get to Agra. Use the new toll highway, you avoids going through small villages and towns. The toll is 330 rupees one way but well worth it-no traffic for 2 hours, it's a straight shot between both cities. Make sure you spend money on a quality guide there to learn about the history, the hidden details and to great the best experience in visiting there. My guide was 500 rupees for 3 hours. This is a place I would come back too. I would like to spend at least one night in Agra to be able to see the Taj Mahal at sunrise and sunset. This was once in a lifetime event for anyone!

Long train journey, a hotel that was ok but not as good as we expected (as for once we booked ahead and got our hopes up) although the manager was good craic and a very sound. 24 photosAfter a nice meal the night before overlooking the Taj Mahal on the hotel's rooftop, we woke up at 5am to see the sunrise at the Taj Mahal. I was escorted by men with guns out of the Taj and told to put it in the locker (about …
