We took the metro this morning to the base of Purple Mountain and decided to walk our way up to visit the Dr Sun Yat-Sen mausoleum. The walk was easy going through a forest area on a named pathway giving directions to many historical sites, including the Ming Dynasty Tomb.
Our first stop is the mausoleum Dr Sun Yat-Sen who for three short months in 1912 evoked the idea of "the mass people to build the Republic of China". The area is over 80,000 sq metres as we walked with many up the hill through tree lined paths through archways, a gate hall, climbing steps to the memorial vault. Incredible mausoleum taking 3 years to build after his death in 1925. A must see for the walk alone.
