We happened to be walking passed St. Patrick's Cathedral and decided to check it out. From the outside, it is flush with Gothic architecture and fantastical details. Upon entering, we realized that mass was in session, so the mood was very reverent.
The interior of the Cathedral is incredibly impressive and features a series of arches leading up to the altar. The surrounding walls are lined with intricate sculptures and beautifully vibrant stained glass windows. It's just breathtaking.
To contrast with the somber nature of mass, the Cathedral also offers a bustling gift shop. The line was at least 30 deep during our visit, so be prepared to wait patiently to purchase your souvenirs.
Entry to St. Patrick's is free, and a must see for any art/architecture buff, or any person who appreciates spectacular craftsmanship and beautiful stained glass windows.
