The Royal palace is worth a visit only if you have a few hours to kill in Phnom Penh, or combined with a trip to the National museum. It's interesting, especially if you love the Khmer / French blend of architecture adopted by the most recent royalty, however there isn't much information or displays to look at.
At the end of the tour there is a display of photos of Sihanouk, which seems to be a little out of touch with the rest of the tour and reality, painting him out to be a hero of the Cambodian people - if only that were true!
Sometimes there is a Video of Angor Wat playing in a nice seating area by the exit which is by far the most entertaining part.
