Most people go to see the Big Buddha, but the Monastery itself is quite beautiful. The upkeep is great, so nothing is run down. Monks still live here, so you'll probably see some walking around. There was one cleaning the kneeling area in one of the rooms when we were there, all the while mumbling or talking to himself (herself? I couldn't tell under the baggy clothing and high pitched voice). We bought the lunch ticket and they gave us way too much vegetarian food.
