I learned quite a bit of the Costa Rican culture, especially the music and dancing, here in Manuel Antonio. There are quite a few open air bars and music clubs where the local music pours out onto the street and people flock to listen and to dance. If you get there early, there is no cover charge.
I toured the National Park that's located next to the beach, and was graced with a visit by a vigorous 3 toed sloth, as well as many other native species in the park. Costa Rica is a country proud of their bio-diversity and so has dedicated 27 % of their land mass thus far to national parks and reserves.
The beach is breathtaking, all that you'd expect, given that Manuel Antonio is the chi-chi place to go in the country, and the surfing is great for beginners or for people who just want to splash around in the water. Do keep your belongings on your person, or locked up, as there is a problem with theft.
Manuel Antonio is a tourists paradise, lots of activites, great restaurants and plenty of local music and killer surf. Enjoy!
