We we a little disappointed with our visit to the castle. I had read that it is a museum, and so expected historical displays. However, I didn't expect them to be so poorly set up. Many of the audio-visual displays on the top level didn't appear to be working (or were taking minutes to rewind). It was difficult for English-speaking people to get an overall sense of the history of this area. With today's technology, I'm sure Japan could put on something far more interesting and spectacular!
The grounds outside were also suffering from lack of care. We wandered around the castle, expecting to walk through well-kept gardens, but at one stage found ourselves walking along a muddy path. The garden was clearly not well maintained. With such stunning views over the city, one could imagine manicured gardens and seats where people could rest and enjoy the scenery.
The castle is certainly a stunning structure, but it's time for an upgrade of the interior and the outside areas.
