You can tell that this is a well managed zoo that is right up there with the best I have ever seen. Our main problem is that we visited on a day when much of the morning was rain and then turned out to be a nice sunny day. For various reasons, all due to the rain and mostly for the benefit of the animals which I completely agree with, many of the exhibits were empty as the animals stayed in their private areas. This left a beautiful park without much to see. Nearly all of the larger and most interesting exhibits were empty leaving us with a very unsatisfying visit. Perhaps if we had know that this would be the case, we could have set our expectations accordingly but there was no mention of this anywhere until we asked several zookeepers about the lack of animals in the exhibits.
Unfortunately, this experience, coupled with the extreme heat of the day, sapped our drive to do anything else in the area.
We left Oklahoma City very disappointed.
C'est la vie
