On our first day at Grand Teton National Park, we drove back into the park, to Jackson Lake, the dam, and around that loop. Today, we took the immediate right turn into the National Elk Refuge, following the loop road up to Antelope Flats and around. Having seen lots of snow, mountains and water, but no wildlife the first day, we were thrilled to see not only fields filled with hundreds of elk, but dozens of buffalo (who not only came right up to the road, but stood right in the middle of the road!), as well as deer, and of course some water birds, including a pair of swans. A great day, highly recommended!
