I didn't know until I got there how often I had seen these places on film. The iconic images are all around. Every time we stopped, I expected to see cowboys, stagecoaches, riders, cattle. The only thing I would have appreciated would have been more information on which locations were used for which film so that I didn't have to try and wrack my brain to suss it out. Ignoring the film connections, this is still an amazing place to visit with stunning rock formations and, despite the other visitors, a sense of isolation, history and spiritual connection to the land.
