Just a short ride from the mainland, is Mackinac Island It's full of history and charm and horses! The only way around on the island is either by horse drawn carriages, or bicycles. So nice not to be dodging cars on the Main Street. Many places to hike, walk, bike, the history, or just enjoy the ambiance of this charming island as you watch from a restaurant or cafe window. Definitely view the Grand Hotel ($10. pp to see inside) and take yourself back to the Victorian era. The carriage rides are well worth it. The guides are amazing and funny and you will hear many stories of days gone by. If you have the time to spend a full day, or more, it is definitely worth it!!
