While our stay at Agra, we took half day excursion to Fatehpur Sikri.
This monument welcomes by a huge entrance, known as "Buland Darvaja" (The Tall Great Entrance).
This monument is built during mughal era. This is supposed to be in respect of Muslim Saint Khwaja Salim Chishti.
Thousands of people visit here with faith and make wish.
It is grave yard of family members of holy saint. People say, the lamp in front of the shrine lightens itself when it is dark.
It is also demonstration of Emperor Akbar's respect for all other religions. A dedicated monument for din e ilahi (religion promoted by Emperor Akbar, said to be having good of all religion) imparts special significance to this monument.
It is 50 kms far from Agra. UP tourism has good facilities at Gulistan Hotel where one can park vehicle, shop, eat and pick up transportation for sight seeing.
Guides are very friendly and straight forward with reasonable rates.
Another building is Queen Jodha's palace, can be skipped if time does not permit.
