The Hollywood Wax Museum is one of those places where it's worth going if I'm not doing anything else. And it is overpriced, and often, they will try to sell you a combo ticket with the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, which is across the street.
Basically, it is what you would expect to find in a wax museum. This museum has wax figures of movie characters, as well as a few from TV shows. Like Charlie Chaplin and I Love Lucy.
The exhibits rotate over the years, so it never stays the same. I went here in 1999, and it was completely different in 2012.
There is a horror section, where there are wax figures of famous horror characters, like Dracula and Frankenstein, as well as Jason (Friday the 13th) and Freddy (Nightmare On Elm Street). And a warning placed just before you enter, basically saying to enter at your own risk. Some do find it kind of scary.
Overall, it's not bad, and something to do if you are staying nearby, as it is open until midnight. But not worth going out of your way to see. If your time in Hollywood is short, then this may not be worth visiting.
