Although rain was forcast today, we enjoyed our visit with the sun popping in and out from behind the clouds, very pleasant. We walked through the doors just as the eleven o'clock guided tour was about to start, perfect timing!
Lynne was our guide, she very knowledgeable, told a very good story and skilfully led us through the various rooms included in the tour, giving us ample time at each room to have a good look around after she'd finished her narrative.
As we left the castle at the end of the tour our senses were assaulted by the aromas from the restaurant, so literally followed our noses and had a very nice lunch, in fact we all had the Ploughman's, which was possibly the best I've had anywhere, and I've been to a few places in my time!
After a little walk around the shop to let our food go down, we wandered over to the beautiful Italian Garden and followed this with the short walk along the river before heading off home.
We loved Glamis Castle and all it has to offer, you could comfortably see most things here in half a day or equally enjoy a full day if you wanted to, especially if you fancied doing the longer walks available.
