We drove into New Orleans across the longest bridge in the world, the bridge over Lake Pontchartrain. It comes in at a whopping 24 miles long. Our first view of the city wasn't that flattering, as we camped near the lake in a very industrial, dilapidated area. Wow. Ok. so there really isn't really much to tell about New Orleans. The city is just how you would expect it to be. It is pretty, there's definitely some history to it but what is most surprising is how the city is. It still seems as they are still far away from how the city probably was. Much left to be desired but it was ok.

Simply cannot believe we are here. Took the camp shuttle into town at 9a. By 10a we were having breakfast on Frenchmen Street. Walked around the Quarter, to the Garden District, cab back to the Quarter for more walking. Enjoyed oysters and beer at the Crescent City Brewhouse while we watched the CNN action across the street. After a VERY lazy day, we took the afternoon shuttle into town. Back to 801 Royal for more fun. Met up with Jeff who we met last night and walked around town with him. Made it to Bourbon Street to observe the madness and collect some beads. Another long but enjoyable evening.
