This was a quick tour we took on the advice of our friend Michael who has always wanted to go since learning about it in school. The Fort was built in the 1500's by Portuguese, then taken over by the Omanis, then later on turned into a museum. Pretty cool old buildings and lots of history. Lots of old stamps and artifacts. Beware the tour guides out front of the building, they just want your money. Once inside their is another group of guides who know heaps about the place, but also they only want your money. He taught us a lot and then rushed us along at the end. Towards the end he said the tours are normally tipped to him for 1,500 Shillings, but we get a special "brother" discount of 1,000 Shillings. After a bit of an earful we ended up giving him 500 Shillings and told him you're not supposed to set a price on a tip, that it should be what we feel the tour was worth.
