No trip to Disney World is complete without seeing Fantasmic at least once. It is easily the best show in all of the theme parks.
Fantasmic is the nighttime show that made its first appearance in Hollywood Studios, in 1998. This was done to boost attendance at the park. Since it was not possible to have it in the Magic Kingdom (which is where the Disneyland version is held), an amphitheater had to be built, just for this show.
In a nutshell, the show's premise is mainly about imagination, as the theme music would suggest. Starting off with Mickey Mouse performing water fountain acts, there are scenes performed on stage or on floats or bubbles from various Disney films, like Fantasia, The Lion King and Pocahontas. After the light-hearted part, the show takes a dark turn, with the villains trying to take over. The Evil Queen from Snow White, calls on the other villains, to take over Mickey's imagination, with pure evil. But Mickey battles back, and you know how that part ends. The show finishes off with the Steamboat Willie, with a bunch of Disney characters on it, followed by pyrotechnics.
If I can, I try to watch this show at least twice during my visit. It is that good!
There are usually 2 showings per day, sometimes one or even none, depending on the time of year. Check the Times Guides for the latest info. Included in the theme park admission.
Also, on the days when it's Extra Magic Hours at Hollywood Studios, it is a lot more crowded. Therefore, you need to get there at least 40 minutes to an hour, before showtime, if you want to sit. Otherwise, you may end up standing, or not even get in at all.
Also, the show could get cancelled due to bad weather, so definitely have a plan B if plan A does not work out.
