Our day to Chiang Mani Zoo wasn't the dreadful experience we were expecting due to its bad TripAdvisor reviews.
We arrived first thing in the morning 9am, the admission in was 150 Baht with 150 Baht extra if you want to see the Pandas, and then you can buy a bus and rail ticket for an extra 100 Baht. The rail was pointless but the buss was useful to get from one area to another as it was extremely hot, hilly and they were very frequent. So all in all we paid 400 Baht each (around 8 pound) for the whole day. Not bad hey!
The animal sections were pleasantly cleaned and reasonable sizes compare to most Zoos, the only negatives where there was hardly any water for the majority of animals and the Hippos had basically no water to lay in. Also some appeared to have irritated skin and would walk back and forth out of boredom...
This was sad, hard to see and nothing that we would really do to improve this which is the problems with Zoos. We wrote these notes on the feedback form as you leave.
The Panda areas was very disappointing with one Panda and it was very small.
However all in all it was an interesting day out learning about each animal that we may have never seen before and seeing the Jungle side of Chiang Mai as well as making friends with a family of Giraffe's an feeding raw meat to a Leopard.
